A Report on“Alumni Meet 2018-19”

Shrama Sadhana Engineers Alumni Association (SEA) organized Alumni Meet 2018–19 on 15 September 2018, the auspicious day, of birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (Engineers Day) at SSBT’s College of Engineering & Technology, Bambhori, Jalgaon (SSBT COET) with a motive to foster emotional bonds among present and past students. The objective of the meet was to promote sustained sense of belonging to the alma mater among the alumni, celebrate their success and achievements, and to provide and disseminate information regarding their alma mater. Invitation for the meet was sent to all alumni through email, phone, and also publicized through social media such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Website etc.
The escorted campus tour began at 9 am and as more and more people arrived, the SSBT COET campus was suddenly bustling with activity and spates of laughter as the senior batches reminisced the good old days. At the reception every alumnus was greeted with a rose.
The meet began with felicitation of dignitaries, Chief Guest Hon. Mr. Lohit Matani, IPS officer & Additional S.P. of Jalgaon district, Guest of Honour Mr. Sachin Patil, Executive Engineer (PWD), Jalgaon, Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Wani, Principal, Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Shekhawat, G.B. Member, Prof. (Dr.) U. S. Bhadade, SEA Chairman, Mr. A. C. Wani, Convener Alumni Meet, followed by “DEEP PRAJWALAN” & Saraswati Vandana.
Inauguration of Alumni Meet 2018-19
The SEA Chairman Prof. (Dr.) U. S. Bhadade delivered preface speech and welcomed the alumni. He appreciated their zeal to assemble in the meet despite their busy schedule. He also outlined objectives of SEA and future activities to be taken up by the SEA. Following the welcoming address, Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Wani briefed the progress, various activities and milestones achieved by SSBT COET in every field. He also enlightened the state-of-the-art developments in research and other academic programs of the Institute. On the eve of Engineer’s Day, 15 September 2018, Dr. S. P. Shekhawat stressed the role of the engineers and focused on the Engineer’s Day theme “Engineering Challenges for Knowledge Era”. Inaugural address was delivered by chief guest Mr. Lohit Matani. He underlined and praised the achievements of Alumni of SSBT COET in all walks/spheres of life. He expressed that it was matter of great pride for SSBT COET that most of its Alumni are entrepreneurs, top level executives in leading core companies, various government organizations, software companies and managers in Banks. He advised the students to read references and practice by writing to become fundamentally strong and perfect engineer. Enthusiastic speech was then given by guest of Honor, Mr. Sachin Patil who has given information of the new developments in engineering & technology.

All the Alumni were greeted with the memento as a token of love from SEA by chief guest. The anchoring was done by Dr. Richa Modiyani of MBA department. The vote of the thanks was delivered by Convener & Alumni Coordinator Mr. A. C. Wani. He also thanked the Alumni for their gracious presence in the meet and made it a very special and memorable one. The occasion was witnessed by more than 80 Alumni ranging across various batches from various parts of the country.
Then along the round of introductions, Alumni Mr. Naresh Baviskar from Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering shared the role of college in building values in his life, creating zeal and confidence for today’s competitive corporate world. He expressed his willingness to guide and support students regarding projects, industrial training and interviews. Alumni Mr. Vishal Megani from Mechanical Engineering expressed that SSBT COET provided the appropriate career path and guidance that really helping him today. He also appealed to current students to work hard and expressed his willingness to help them in preparing for competitive exams. Alumni Mr. Parag Patil from Civil Engineering expressed the role of various workshops and seminars, conducted by the college, to build up confidence & leadership qualities. He also briefed current scenario and opportunities in engineering. Alumni Ms. Sona Sharma from IT shared current industrial needs & guided regarding placements. She affirmed that education at SSBT COET is with moral values. Alumni Mr. Harshal Boarse of Biotech stated that SSBT COET is a great place to study and cherished old memories and took to the floor to regale the audience about fond memories from their time.
During interaction session, the final year students discussed regarding placements, industrial requirements, government jobs, interview skills & higher studies.The discussion was healthy and fruitful. The dialogue between alumni and students boosted the confidence of our students.
A feedback was also collected from alumni regarding the organizational aspects of the Meet and their suggestions for improvement.

One of the most valuable takeaways from any meet is the new relationships and contacts made through networking. During networking lunch the alumni not only established new connections but also strengthened the older ones. And the delicious food, served during networking lunch, added to the sense of belongingness to the alma mater.
Round Table Conference and Panel Discussion:
During post-lunch session, a round table conference was organized with the executive alumni in the principal office conference hall. Alumni meet objectives and various issues regarding involvement of alumni in college activities were discussed in depth. Discussion was also made regarding placements, syllabus up gradation and Industry Institute interaction.The Alumni drive the discussion about the quality education and current scenario of industry. They shared their ventures & experiences of the engineering profession. Mr Suraj Pande, Mr. Kunal Borade, Ms. Diksha patil, Mr. Gopal Koli, Ms. Sona Sharma, Mr. Vishal Megani, Mr. Yashvant Patil & other Alumni shown interest to help their juniors in the competitive exams, training & for career guidance. They also assured their support for betterment of institute as well as students.
Round Table Conference of SEA members
The Alumni Meet closed at a very emotional note. However, everyone appreciated the efforts by the SSBT COET SEA in organizing the Meet. Overall, Alumni & the students of SSBT COET had a wonderful time at the "ALUMNI MEET 2018 – 19" and the Meet ended with a promise to meet again.
