About the Department
Biotechnology Engineering Department came into existence in 2006 - 07 with starting of B. E. programme in Biotechnology to meet the demand of Biotechnology professionals. This is the only college to start B.E. Biotechnology in Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University Jalgaon with an intake of 30 students. The department is engaged in teaching and research in Biotechnology & related area. This department caters to needs of B.E. Biotechnology course as prescribed by the K. B. C. N. M. U., Jalgaon (M.S.). The department was accredited for 2 years by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), w.e.f. 1-7-2014.
The department has 11 labs including Microbiology Lab , Biochemistry Lab, Bioprocess Modeling and Simulations/ Computer Lab ,Immunology/Molecular Biology & Genetic Engineering Lab, Bioprocess Engineering Lab, Plant Tissue Culture Lab, Fermentation Biotechnology Lab, Bioinformatics Lab, Downstream Processing Lab, Project lab and Research lab. The department laboratories are spacious with modern infrastructural facilities for students to gain knowledge and give hands on training in Biotechnology. These labs are equipped with latest equipment like Top Centrifuge-For centrifugation, fermentation, Laminar Air Flow, Rotary Flask Shaker Digital pH Meter, Lyophilizer etc. All the laboratories of the department are recognized research lab for PhD by Kaviyitri Bahinabai Chaudhri North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The department has smart classrooms and good collection of books and project reports in departmental library.
The faculty provides technical assistance & guidance as well as facilitating financial assistance through various schemes. The department conducts expert lectures, seminars / Add-on courses regularly to update students about latest trends & developments in different areas of studies. The department has organized several International conferences. Department of Science and Technology Government of India have sanctioned Rs.45 lakhs for proposal to, Head of the Department to establish Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) in college. Consultancy is available in various areas like Waste Treatments, Water Analysis, Fermentative production of Bio products, Ant scaling Agents (Water soluble Polymers), Qualitative and Quantities analysis of Proteins and Enzymes. Students have Biotechnology Engineering Students Association (BESA) to organized various Co curricular and Extracurricular event in the Department for overall development of Student.
