About the Department
The Department of Civil Engineering is working since the inception of the college that is 1983. It is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to Kaviyitri Bahinabai Chaudhri North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon with an intake of 60 at UG level. The department has undergone success full NBA accreditation in 2004, in 2008 and 2014. It has several feathers of academic excellence in its cap. The department has qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty.
The department has 12 laboratories including Material Testing Lab, Geotechnical Engineering Lab, and Environmental Engineering Lab etc and equipped with modern equipments like computerized UTM and CTM, Permeability apparatus, UV – Spectrophotometer, Total Station, Digital Plannimeter, Standard Penetration Test Apparatus and Plate Load Test Appartus. The department has facilities for soil bearing capacity determination, testing of building and road construction material as per IS code, testing of water from drinking and construction perspective, wastewater testing, air quality sampling and examination from pollution control point of view and offers material testing and consultancy services to various Government and Private agencies including Central Railways, Western Railways, Ordnance Factory, KBC North Maharashtra University, Zilha Parishad, Municipal Cooperation, NHAI, Private Contractors, etc. The laboratories of the department are recognized for doctoral research work.
Department conducts Expert Lectures, Seminars and ‘Add on’ courses regularly for skill development of students. It includes in field training of students for SPT and Plate Load Test.
Department encourages students to undertake research oriented and start up related projects while faculty actively provides technical assistance and guidance for funding through various agencies. They are taken to site visits. The department has signed MoUs with organizations like PWD Malkapur and Abhijit Patil Construction Company, Jalgaon for providing industrial visits and training.
Vaishnavi Jalamkar has been university topper in final year civil engineering exams, 2022 with two gold medals. Students get placed in Government and reputed private organizations like PWD, Railways, Stringer Drafting etc or become civil contractors/consultants. Department generates a revenue of Rs 40,00,000/- yearly through consultancy work in the field of construction material testing, design and third party verification etc.
